Rajkot makes engines, pumps, machine tools, auto parts and a large share of Gujarat's grey iron castings, mostly in clusters around Aji, Metoda and Shapar-Veraval. Layer X helps the people behind those products with the first-off parts: a printed pattern to test a casting design, a prototype housing for a pump, a model for a machine-tool show. Our studio is at 204, Iscon Emporio, Satellite, Ahmedabad, about 215 km away. We have no office in Rajkot. We make in Ahmedabad and courier to you, or you collect.

What we make
Foundry patterns and core-box proofs
Printed patterns for grey iron castings, so the foundry can check shrinkage allowances, parting lines and gating before investing in tooling.
Pump and engine prototypes
Covers, housings and impeller shapes for submersible-pump and diesel-engine makers, printed to test fit and flow paths. Metal DMLS parts can be quoted for small, harder-duty needs.
Machine-tool show models
Scaled or cutaway models of lathes, machining centres and attachments for stalls at machine-tool shows, built in printed sections with an acrylic base.
Assembly fixtures and gauges
Locating jigs, checking gauges and holders for auto-parts lines, printed in nylon and reprinted when they wear.
Dealer counter models
Small batches of miniature machines or engines for dealers and distributors to show on a counter.

Review and quote in 24 hours
We pick FDM, SLS or SLA based on size, finish and use, and quote with lead time.
Print and check in Ahmedabad
FDM runs 3-5 days, SLS 4-6 days and DMLS 5-7 days. We check against your drawing.
Courier to Rajkot or collect
We pack for the road and courier to your Rajkot address, with transit time confirmed in the quote.

Do you have an office in Rajkot?
No. Layer X has one studio, at 204, Iscon Emporio, Jodhpur Cross Roads, Satellite, Ahmedabad, about 215 km from Rajkot. We make everything there and courier it, or you collect.
Can a 3D printed pattern be used in a foundry?
For sample runs and design checks, often yes, depending on the moulding process and finish your foundry needs. Ask your moulder first; we can print to their pattern drawing and allowances.
Can you print pump or engine parts that will run for years?
Prototypes and fit-check parts, yes. For parts that carry load, heat or pressure for years, we will tell you honestly whether nylon, resin or DMLS metal is appropriate, or whether you should use a cast or machined part.

The 10th show runs 25-28 November 2026 at NSIC Ground, per listings, alongside a Castings & Foundries Expo. With a model needing several days to make and courier, send your brief at once. We do not install models at the venue.
